# Record templates

> Templates that prefill new tasks, companies and opportunities — the Settings › Templates editor, first tasks, the default template, ordering, duplicating and usage counts.

Prepare a template for the records you create often: pick it in the task window or the new company form and the fields fill in; company and opportunity templates also open **first tasks** together with the record. The new opportunity page uses [form templates](/en/guides/forms#templates).

## The Templates page {#page}

**Settings → Templates** (admins). Tabs: **Task · Company · Opportunity**.

- Each row: the template name, summary chips (e.g. *Call · in 2 days · 3 items*), a **default** tag and the usage count. The search box looks in names and summaries.
- **Drag by the handle** to reorder (touch too, ↑ ↓ on the keyboard); after a move the toast offers **Undo**.
- Click a template to open the editor on the right; **Create template** starts a new one. When the list is empty, sample templates (e.g. *Lead from a trade fair*) start with one click.

## The editor {#editor}

**First tasks** are entered row by row: title, *+ days* (days after the record is created) and type; rows can be dragged, Enter adds a row. The **preview** on the right shows how the form fills in and on which day each task opens.

- **Default template:** preselected in the new company / opportunity form; first in the task window for tasks.
- **Duplicate** opens a copy; after **Delete** the toast's **Undo** brings the template back with the same id (records already created are not affected).
- Invalid values are never dropped silently: a duplicate name, a wrong time or an out-of-range probability gives an explained warning.

## Opportunity templates {#opp}

The new opportunity page and the quick panel on every page open with **form templates**; they are listed at the top of the Opportunity tab (**Edit in Forms**). Older opportunity templates sit under *Classic form templates* and only apply to the classic form (`?klasik=1`); **Move to form** on a row turns one into a form template with its fields and first tasks.
