# Send a message

`POST /api/v1/whatsapp/chats/{id}/messages`

v92 (beta): a real send. Within 24 hours of the customer's last message send `text`; otherwise only an approved template (`template` + `variables`). Marketing templates only to people who opted in. Response: `message`, `chat`. A request that breaks the rules returns `400` with the reason.
