Price lists and margin

Customer group (dealer, wholesale, retail) and campaign price lists, quantity tiers, purchase cost and minimum order quantity on products, margin in quotes and manager approval for lines below the minimum margin.

For trading companies the same product has different prices by customer and quantity: one price for dealers, another for retail; a tier lower from 100 pieces; a campaign until month end. Settings → Products and pricing → Price lists and margin (admins) defines these; the quote builder suggests the right price by itself.

Purchase cost and minimum order

Each product on the Products page has two fields:

  • Purchase cost — for margin. Entered in the product's currency; converted with the exchange rate if the quote is in another currency. Never shown on the quote document (PDF).
  • Minimum order — a quote line below this quantity is flagged.

Margin

In the quote builder, each line with a purchase cost shows its margin, and the summary shows the quote's total margin (Margin 22.2%; N lines if only some lines have a cost). Margin = (net price − cost) ÷ net price; optional lines are excluded.

  • With a minimum margin (%), a quote with a line below it goes to manager approval when saved; the approval reason names the product and the margin (Approvals). 0 = off.
  • Who sees margin: Admins only (default) or Everyone. If sales reps can't see it, cost and margin are hidden from them on every screen.

Price lists

Type Applies to
Customer group the companies added to the list (e.g. Dealer, Wholesale). Can also be assigned from the Price list box on the company card; a company belongs to one customer group list.
Campaign all companies between its start and end dates.

Each list has a currency, validity dates, an optional discount on other products (%) (for products without a price in the list, a discount off the list price) and product prices. Several prices for the same product with different minimum quantities form tiers: the price drops as the quoted quantity grows. Inactive or expired lists are not applied.

Which price a quote suggests

Once a company is chosen in the quote builder, the suggested price in the product list and quick-add chips is found in this order:

  1. The company's contracted price (from an accepted quote),
  2. Matching price lists — if several match, the lowest price; the chip shows the list name,
  3. The product's list price.

Reps can still change the price; discount and floor price rules still apply. For a reorder quote, the last order price is checked after price lists.
