Notifications

How Solk keeps you informed — the bell (in-app), email and phone notifications; which types, the rules that keep them from being a nuisance, quiet hours, and preferences in Settings and the mobile app.

Solk notifies you through three channels: the bell (the inbox in the sidebar and Notifications in the mobile app), email and phone notifications (the mobile app, iOS / Android). You choose which channel each notification type uses.

Types

Type When Default
Mentions someone @-mentions you in a note, comment or task bell · email · phone
Comments a reply arrives on a thread you commented on, or someone comments on a record you own bell · email · phone
Task assignments a task is assigned to you bell · email · phone

Approvals a quote or request (leave, expense…) is submitted for your approval; your request is approved or rejected bell · email · phone

The list depends on the modules in your installation (e.g. Call recordings does not appear when the Call Recording module is off).

Phone notifications

The mobile app asks once on first launch: Shall we notify your phone about important updates? Tap Turn on notifications and the phone's permission dialog appears; tap Not now and it won't ask again — turn them on later in Menu → Phone notifications.

To avoid being a nuisance, the installation sends them with these rules:

  • Your own actions are not notified (assigning a task to yourself doesn't buzz your phone).
  • Bursts are combined into one notification — notifications arriving within a few seconds come as 3 new notifications; emails from the same thread arrive as one (latest message · 2 new).
  • At most 8 phone notifications per hour; the rest wait and join the next summary.
  • Quiet hours (default 20:00 – 08:00): notifications arriving at night come as one summary in the morning. You can change the hours or turn them off.
  • No stale notifications: if the phone was off for a long time, pending notifications older than 18 hours are dropped (they stay in the bell and email). A customer email is notified only if it arrived within the last 6 hours — old threads don't reach your phone during the first sync.
  • No number on the icon: the unread count is not shown on the app icon (so an old number doesn't linger after you've read them).

Tapping a notification opens the relevant screen: a company, opportunity, action, email thread, call recording, approvals or notifications. If you have several workspaces, the app first switches to the workspace the notification came from. Notifications arriving while the app is open appear as a banner at the top for a few seconds.

Preferences on the phone

Menu → Phone notifications (or the settings icon at the top right of the Notifications screen):

  • On this phone — turn notifications on or off on this phone. Turning them off removes the phone from all your workspaces.
  • What reaches your phone — each type.
  • Quiet hours — on / off, start and end hour.
  • Test notifications — sends a test notification to the phone right away.

Types and quiet hours are per workspace; the On this phone switch applies to the whole phone. You can also turn them off in the phone's own settings (iOS: Settings → Solk → Notifications; Android: Settings → Apps → Solk → Notifications — the channel is called Bildirimler).

Preferences on the web

Settings → Notifications (Personal): Bell · Email · Phone columns for each type, quiet hours, the phones registered to this account (device, last seen), recent phone notifications and Test notifications. The Phone column appears only when phone notifications are available in the installation.

The overdue work email (every morning) is a separate setting: the switch at the bottom of Settings → Notifications or the ⋯ menu on the Actions page. Actions

How they are delivered

Phone notifications travel from your installation through Solk's relay server and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (on iOS also the Apple Push Notification service) to your phone. A notification carries only a short title and text (e.g. Ayşe Kaya mentioned you: let's share the price on Friday); the relay server does not store the content and your CRM records are not shared. Details: Privacy policy.

When you sign out of the app (or your session ends), the phone automatically stops receiving that workspace's notifications.

API

The endpoints the mobile app uses: POST /push/register · POST /push/unregister · GET /push/prefs · POST /push/prefs · POST /push/test. caps.push in the /me response shows whether phone notifications are available in the installation.
